I'm just not a fan of handle bar mounted fairing but I did check and Memphis Shades said one would fit on my 1600.Īnother key to long distance comfort is a good seat. I was out in Love Bugs last weekend and was so glad to have a big screen getting all slimy with thousands of copulating bugs and not my face shield. For long hauls at high speeds I need a big honking screen and would just rather look crappy but feel good. Really too much when it's above 90 like today. Posted : - 20:19 Post title : Re: fairing and hard bags (Re: basaint2)īasa-the stock Roadster screen seems to be hated in general but the Cee Bailey Screen is a real wind stopper. I appreciate any advise from those of you who have been there-done that before as it may save me a lot of grief. (fortunately the title is still in the original owners name) Was hoping to put a nice fairing on to protect from the wind, but may have to settle for a screen. Seen a used (33 miles) but new (2013) on-line at a dealership in Florida for 11,000.00 and figured with no dealer fees and only a $25 tax here in Illinois for a used bike I couldn't go wrong. All my friends that ride have Harley' or Victory's, but my original bike was a BSA Goldstar, (wish I still had that one ) so wanted to stay with a British bike and fell in love with the Thunderbird. Plan on trying to do some longer trips, but haven't been on a bike in 40 years up until a month ago when I bought a Honda Shadow 600cc to learn on again. Posted : - 17:34 Post title : Re: fairing and hard bags (Re: intimidator32) you're right fishy bike looks loads better without a lot of stuff on it but if you want to travel on it what are you going to doĬurrently on a slow Harley but will have another Triumph eventually My one complaint about the hardstreet, easybracket combo is that they stick out to far from the rear fender for me to give them a 10 out of 10 ranking but they do suit the bike and are very functional so i'd say about a 7 out of 10. Posted : - 16:52 Post title : Re: fairing and hard bags (Re: fishy) I would call Fast Eddy and get his take on what's out there now. I went with the Slimbags and they work great, don't leak and carry what I need. With Easy Brackets you could add some Hardstreets bags. STAY AWAY FROM THE TRIUMPH LEATHER BAGS I had mine replaced twice on warranty and got lucky enough to sell them cheap. Better save your money for rear tires :). I have seen a Bird with the Corbin Contraband fairing and it looked OK. So if you can get a fast release you can remove them as conditions warrant. My thinking is that fairings, shields and bags really ruin the bike but they are needed. You could also go with a National Switchblade shield. I debated a fairing and went with a great big Cee Bailey shield on a quick release Triumph mount. I have found that Fast Eddy Sports is a great source for all things Thunderbird. Does anyone know of any other models out there or are the few I see on bikes just been modified to fit?

I read one article here about the Corbin fairing and that it had to be modified to fit and not sure that is up my alley. I have searched the web and it seems that there is little to none actually made for this model.

So if any of your guys out there have the new mounting bracket for VTX and know how to mount the fairing using all the hardware included please share the info with me. I contacted the company for an entire week asking for the new instructions and every time they tell me they are working on it. I can possibly mount the fairing my own way but don't want to risk loosing my fairing if I hit a bump.

Now the bad, they send me a new version of the mounting bracket that is pretty cool but the problem I am having is that the instructions included with the fairing are for the old mounting bracket and I have not been able to figure out how to mount the fairing using all the hardware included. The quality of the entire set up fairing, stereo and speakers is outstanding and it only took three weeks from ordering to receiving the fairing via UPS.

I am thinking about going with a 6 inch curved from the same company. I got mine with an 8 inch fairing and is right at nose level for me, I am 5'7" but I took a lot of measurements before I ordered mine. I just got my tsukayu fairing for my 2006 VTX with color match and the paint job was outstanding.
